Gabriel Chavarria Boards Submarine Action Thriller ‘Hunter Killer’

Deadline reports that Gabriel Chavarria (Hulu’s East Los High) has signed on for Donovan Marsh’s action thriller Hunter Killer for Millennium Films. Already in the cast are Gerard Butler (London Has Fallen), Gary Oldman (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Billy Bob Thornton (Whiskey Tango Foxtrot) and Common (Barbershop: The Next Cut).

Peter Craig and Jamie Moss are adapting the screenplay from the George Wallace and Don Keith 2012 novel Firing Point. The story centers on an untested American submarine captain who teams with the U.S. Navy SEALS in a rescue mission to save the Russian president from a military coup. Chavarria will play the role of Jiminez, a Navy SEAL aboard the American sub.

Chavarria plays heartthrob Jacob in the Hulu dramatic series East Los High, which enters its fourth season on July 15. He was recently seen in Lowriders, from Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions, and has just completed filming War For The Planet Of The Apes for 20th Century Fox alongside Woody Harrelson, set for release July 14, 2017.

Original Film’s Neal Moritz and Toby Jaffee are producing alongside Butler, Tooley Productions CEO Tucker Tooley, Alan Siegel, and Mark Gill. Avi Lerner, Douglas Urbanski, Trevor Short, John Thompson, Matt O’Toole, Les Weldon, Boaz Davidson, and Christine Otal are executive producing.

Filming of Hunter Killer will begin in London on July 25th.
