Ke Huy Quan is back in action, this time as the star of the upcoming movie Love Hurts. Known for his iconic roles in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and The Goonies as a child actor, and his recent career resurgence in Everything Everywhere All at Once and Loki, Quan is no stranger to the spotlight. What some may not know, however, is that he spent years behind the scenes as a stunt choreographer, lending his expertise to films like X-Men and The One.
In Love Hurts, Quan takes on the role of Marvin Gable, a suburban realtor with a hidden past as a skilled fighter. The trailer, which just dropped, showcases a mix of intense action sequences and a story full of suspense. The film taps into Quan’s real-life experience with stunts, blending his talents both in front of and behind the camera.
The premise draws comparisons to the 2021 action hit Nobody, which starred Bob Odenkirk as an unlikely action hero with a dark past. Both films come from the action-driven production company 87North, co-founded by The Fall Guy director David Leitch. Like Nobody, Love Hurts takes an everyday character and throws them into high-stakes, adrenaline-fueled scenarios.
The official synopsis reveals that Quan’s character, Marvin Gable, is forced to confront his former life when Rose (played by Oscar-winner Ariana DeBose) re-enters the picture with a grudge. As the past catches up to him, Marvin finds himself battling deadly hitmen, all while his brother Knuckles (played by Daniel Wu) closes in.
Love Hurts is set to hit theaters on February 7, promising an action-packed ride for moviegoers eager to see Quan in a new and exciting light.
