‘Freaky Friday’ Follow-Up ‘Freakier Friday’ Gets Time To Shine At D23

The anticipated sequel to Freaky Friday just picked up some steam at the ongoing D23. During D23, the sequel was given the title of Freakier Friday. The first Freaky Friday, which was released a little over 20 years ago in 2003, saw a mother and teenage daughter at odds just before the mother’s wedding, only for them to mysteriously switch bodies. In order to get back to normal, the two must learn what it’s like to walk a day in the other’s shoes.

Taking over in the director’s chair this time around is Nisha Gantra, after Mark Waters directed the first. Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are returning for the film, which this time sees Lindsay Lohan’s character in a similar situation that her mother, played by Curtis, was in back in the first film.

Also returning from the first are Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal, and Haley Hudson, among other talents. Lohan and Curtis took to the stage during D23 to talk about the movie. According to Deadline, Lohan promised that the sequel would amp up the fun and emotion, but also stressed that they did it for the fans. “Seriously, the only reason we are back here doing this because of your love. That is why,” she said.
