Since Victoria Alonso was fired from Disney a month ago, there has been a lot of confusion regarding exactly why it happened. From Alonso allegedly working on Amazon movie Argentina, 1985 to being punished for criticizing gay pride references in Ant-Man 3, there wasn’t a clear answer, but there is a resolution for now.
Alonso and Disney have resolved their dispute, although the exact reasons surrounding the exit are still unknown.
Previously MXDWN reported Alonso’s attorney’s claim that Alonso was silenced as a gay Latina after criticizing the gay censorship for the Kuwait release of Ant-man.
Following that, a Disney spokesperson rejected this claim, saying it was “unfortunate” Alonso was “sharing a narrative that leaves out several key factors concerning her departure, including an indisputable breach of contract and a direct violation of company policy.”
“We will continue to wish her the best for the future and thank her for her numerous contributions to the studio,” the Disney spokesperson concluded. (Via Variety)
Alonso had a long journey with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, working on Iron Man (2008), Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), The Avengers (2012), Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), and Avengers: Endgame (2019).
In between Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is when she worked on the film that allegedly broke her contract, Argentina, 1985.
Her last two Marvel films are Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Marvels, both currently in post-production.
