Footage of Aaron Taylor-Johnson filming a scene for Robert Eggers’s upcoming horror film, Werewulf, has appeared online, Collider reports.
Continuing Eggers’s run of dark historical pieces such as The Witch, The Lighthouse, The Northman, and Nosferatu, Werwulf will be a unique spin on the monstrous legend, taking place in 13th-century England and using the Middle English language common during that period in its dialogue. The director has also said that the project will be the darkest thing he has ever written.
Now, via TMZ, footage of lead actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson performing on set in Dartmoor, a national park in the southwestern U.K., has appeared online. The footage and photos show the actor bearded, shirtless, and covered in blood as he paces around in front of a hut.
This will be Taylor-Johnson’s second collaboration with Eggers, after last year’s Nosferatu, and will reunite him with fellow actors Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, and Ralph Ineson, who were also in the vampire flick. This will be Depp’s second collaboration with Eggers and Dafoe’s and Ineson’s fourth, with the former having also appeared in The Lighthouse, the latter in The Witch, and both in The Northman.
The film is being co-written by Eggers and his co-writer Sjón, with both producing alongside Focus Features as well as Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner for Working Title. Chris and Eleanor Columbus will be executive producing through Maiden Voyage Pictures.
Werwulf is scheduled to be released in theaters on Christmas Day of 2026.
