Florence Pugh is Yelena Belova in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Pugh was most recently seen in Thunderbolts*, which hit theaters just earlier this month. In the movie she jumped off the second tallest building in the world, but Pugh teases that there is more to come for the character.
Next up for Yelena will be explored in Avengers: Doomsday. In the film Pugh will be accompanied by an array of actors. In an interview with Variety she discussed the new cast including Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen. She mentioned her excitement to work with Pedro Pascal and Paul Rudd. Pugh called it “nutso sauce” that so many stars are going to be in the movie.
Pugh then went on to discuss Yelena. When asked about her hopes for Yelena in Doomsday, as she will be more of the focus, she responded, “I hope that she’s happy now. I hope she feels fulfilled, like she has purpose. And I hope that we get to see some of her light and her charm and her color again, because I loved playing that before.”
Audiences can see the trajectory of Pugh’s character in Doomsday in 2026. But until then Yelena can be seen in Thunderbolts*, which is in theaters now.
