First Trailer Releases For Family Comedy ‘This Is Where I Leave You’

The first trailer has released for Shawn Levy’s dysfunctional family comedy This Is Where I Leave You, due out late this summer. Based on the Jonathan Tropper novel of the same name, this story centers on 4 adult siblings who are forced to spend a week together under the roof of their childhood home after the death of their father.

Per the trailer, our moral center is Judd Altman (the family name was Foxman in the novel, but it seems to have been changed), played by Jason Bateman, whose marriage is about to end due to his wife’s infidelity. Tina Fey plays his blunt, hot-headed sister Wendy Foxman. The film is packed with a strong ensemble cast including Jane Fonda, who plays the over-sharing matriarch of the family, along with Girls‘ star Adam Driver and House Of Cards’ Corey Stoll.

Most known for directing the box office hits Night At The Museum and its sequel, Levy has had a string of comedy hits, including 2010’s Date Night which also starred Tina Fey. The idea of Bateman and Fey as siblings is intriguing as evidenced by the mayhem and laughs we’re treated to just from the trailer. We can only hope there’s much more to be enjoyed from this strong cast, Levy’s directing and Tropper’s script from his own novel.

The results will speak for themselves. This Is Where I Leave You bows in theaters September 12th.
