After delivering a hefty slate of 2025 horror films, including Presence, The Monkey, Hell of a Summer, and Together, NEON has just released the first official trailer for the found footage-hybrid film Shelby Oaks. Shelby Oaks is the directorial debut from online video creator Chris Stuckman, known for his YouTube film discussions and reviews. The eerie trailer follows Mia Brennan, a woman searching for her sister Riley, a content creator and paranormal investigator, since her mysterious disappearance 12 years ago. Riley’s last known whereabouts leads Mia to the abandoned ghost town of Shelby Oaks. “I know my sister’s not dead,” Mia says as she is seen researching the supernatural as well as uncovering details regarding the violent aftermath of the disappearance. Mia continues on to recount “The last night I saw her, she said she saw a man standing in her window staring at her.”
The trailer continues to show Mia investigating the grim location of Shelby Oaks, uncovering each new corner of the town more sinister than the last. Chris Stuckman also serves as the writer of the film, with SlashFilm regarding him as “One of the most promising new voices in horror.” Shelby Oaks stars Camille Sullivan as Mia and Sarah Durn as Riley. The analog-adjacent nature of the film seems to promise to unnerve audiences when it releases in theaters on October 3rd. Watch the trailer below.
