Amazon Studios just released the first trailer for their film The Report. Based on real events, the film details the story of Daniel J. Jones (Adam Driver), who worked for California Senator Dianne Feinstein (Annette Bening) and was assigned to examine the CIA’s interrogation methods in the time after 9/11. The tense trailer shows Jones’s determination in attempting to uncover the truth regarding the CIA’s questioning tactics.
Throughout this investigation, Jones tries to uncover what type of content was contained in the interrogation tapes destroyed by the CIA. Truth and secrecy appear to be the main themes surrounding The Report’s plot, given the government’s unethical attempt to conceal their use of torture as interrogation. The teaser ends with a title labeled ‘The Torture Report” before a black line gradually crossing out the word “torture,” spelling out the film’s title.
The Report‘s cast features Jon Hamm, Sarah Goldberg, Douglas Hodge, Michael C. Hall, Fajer Kaisi, Ted Levine, Tim Blake Nelson, Jennifer Morrison, Linda Powell, Matthew Rhys, T. Ryder Smith, Corey Stoll, and Maura Tierney. Scott Burns directed the film and Amazon bought its rights for $14 million at the 2019 Sundance Festival.
The Report is slated to play in theaters on November 15th and will be available on Prime Video on November 29. Watch the trailer below.
