First Trailer Released for Jim Jarmusch’s ‘The Dead Don’t Die’

The trailer for the upcoming zombie film, The Dead Don’t Die, surprisingly elicits laughter from viewers. Jim Jarmusch’s film puts a comedic spin on what would seem like a classic horror film about the undead.

The police duo, played by Adam Driver and Bill Murray, for a small town named Centerville react with indifference and nonchalance to the encroaching zombie invasion. They are first involved with the case when they respond to a call to investigate a death at a diner. One of the policemen (Driver) emotionlessly proposes that it might have been caused by zombies. The duo fights against the zombies with the help of a skilled zombie slayer played by Tilda Swinton.

The star-studded cast also includes Chloë Sevigny, Steve Buscemi, Danny Glover, Caleb Landry Jones, Rosie Perez, Iggy Pop, Sara Driver, RZA, Selena Gomez, Carol Kane, Austin Butler, Luka Sabbat, and Tom Waits. Filming took place in upstate New York last summer.

This is not Jarmusch’s first time directing a zombie movie. He also portrayed the world of the living dead in his 2013 drama/fantasy movie, Only Lovers Left Alive, which was nominated for an award at the Cannes Film Festival.

Focus Films will distribute the film. The Dead Don’t Die comes out June 14. Watch the trailer below.
