It’s not quite a walk in the park anymore. The new trailer for Jurassic World: Rebirth has made its debut, showing a whole new island and brand new dinosaurs coming to the ongoing series.
A group of soldiers and scientists make the journey to a remote island that served as the research grounds for the first Jurassic Park. Their goal is to get the DNA of some of the biggest dinosaurs on the island, hoping it can boost medicine further and make new breakthroughs. However, they come to discover why these dinosaurs never made it to the first park to begin with.
Gareth Edwards steps into the Jurassic series for the first time as director of Rebirth. Edwards’ film background already includes other sci-fi creature features, including both 2010’s Monsters and 2014’s Godzilla.
The screenplay was penned by series veteran David Koepp, who wrote both Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park.
Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey lead the cast of Jurassic World: Rebirth, with the supporting cast rounded out by Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Luna Blaise, among others.
The trailer already promises plenty of dinosaurs, both staples of the old films and newcomers to the series. The iconic Tyrannosaurus Rex is present, keeping up the streak of appearing in every Jurassic film. Similarly, the iconic Velociraptor appears, intimidating the characters with its terrifying presence.
Series newcomers include the sauropod Titanosaurus, as well as a new version of the Spinosaurus, differing from the one seen in Jurassic Park 3. The trailer also shows footage of a new, unseen dinosaur, kept mostly in the shadows, leading to speculation of a new type of genetically engineered species.
Jurassic World: Rebirth roars into theaters on July 2nd. Check out the trailer below.
