Screen Media has released the first trailer for Best Sellers, an upcoming dramedy starring Michael Caine (The Dark Knight, The Prestige) and Aubrey Plaza (Dirty Grandpa, Parks and Recreation), as a very odd couple in the literary market.
Lucy (Plaza) is an ambitious young publisher who has inherited her father’s failing company. When she discovers they have a contract with Harris Shaw (Caine), a cranky, retired author who owes them a manuscript, she struggles to form a working relationship with the man. Eventually, they must begin to reconcile their differences to complete his final book tour and learn how to connect with a modern day audience of readers.
This film is yet another step in the more dramatic direction for Plaza, who has come a long way from her Parks and Rec days to star in a diverse range of content including Legion, Black Bear, and Ingrid Goes West.
The movie also stars Ellen Wong (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, which Plaza also starred in), Scott Speedman (Underworld), and Cary Elwes (Saw, The Princess Bride).
Best Sellers marks the feature debut of director Lina Roessler and writer Anthony Grieco, whose script received a 2015 Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting Award, granted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The film is set to hit theaters and video on demand on September 17. The new trailer can be seen below:
