First Teaser Trailer for Disney Pixar’s ‘Inside Out’

After a summer-long wait since the film’s plot details were revealed by Pixar, the first teaser for Inside Out has been released. Voiced by a star-studded comedy cast, including Amy Poehler (Baby Mama) as Joy, Mindy Kaling (This is the End) as Disgust, Bill Hader (The Skeleton Twins) as Fear, Phyllis Smith (The Office) as Sadness, and comedian Lewis Black as Anger, the story goes directly inside the mind of Riley (Kaitlyn Dias, Burial,) a young girl facing the hardships of growing up after being uprooted to San Francisco for her father’s new job.

While paying homage to the movies of Pixar past, the trailer connects Inside Out‘s plot to viewers cerebral experiences; in other words, to “meet the voices inside your head.” Writer and director Pete Docter (Up, Monsters, Inc.) seems to make the potentially emotional (pun intended) subject matter easily approachable by treating  psyche like imaginary friends.

Being the followup to Pixar’s massively successful Monster’s UniversityInside Out can expect to draw huge crowds. On top of its young demographic, the film could also attract scores of comedy lovers. In the midst of pre-production, Kaling is busy with the third season of her show The Mindy Project, while Poehler is putting the final touches on the seventh and last season of Parks and Recreation. Poehler will also be working on another collaboration with her Emmy-partner Tina Fey in The Nest. Hader has two more animated features currently in production, appearing in a large ensemble including James Franco (Spring Breakers) and Seth Rogen for Sausage Party, as well as The Good Dinosaur. Black released his latest stand-up special, Old Yeller last year, and continues to tour.

Check back for our continued coverage of Inside Out up until its release on June 19, 2015.
