Disney fans are gearing up to return to Hawai’i in Disney’s live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch, which is slated for Memorial Day 2025, as reported by the film’s first teaser. The short thirty-second clip opens with an aerial shot of a stunning Hawai’ian coast, then lands on a sand recreation of the famous Walt Disney Pictures castle logo. A rambunctious, three-dimensional computer-generated Stitch then comes marching through, destroying every sand castle in his path. The famous alien is blue, fluffy, and expressive as ever.
Disney’s first version of Lilo & Stich was released in 2002 and followed a little girl, Hawai’ian native Lilo Pelekai, as she struggled to navigate relationships with her peers and her older sister, Nani. Lilo soon finds companionship in the form of the extraterrestrial Stitch, who she accidentally adopts, thinking he is a dog. Writer-director Chris Sanders lends a hand to the new project, reprising his voice role as the titular alien he created more than twenty years ago.
Rounding out the cast of the 2025 film is Maia Kealoha as Lilo, Sydney Agudong as Nani, Zack Galifianakis as the voice of Dr. Jumba Jookiba, and Billy Magnussen as the voice of Agent Pleakley. Original voice actors Tia Carrere, Amy Hill, and Jason Scott Lee will also return to the franchise.
Lilo & Stitch crash lands into theaters on May 23, 2025.
