Venom: Let There Be Carnage is only a few days away from releasing to the public. But Sony Pictures has already given a small screening for critics and journalists. A wide array of reactions and opinions have hence appeared on the internet.
The film directed by Andy Serkis and written by Kelly Marcel will continue the dynamic duo energy from the first movie. Venom and Eddie Brock are as inseparable as ever. Tom Hardy is resuming his role as Venom’s bodily host. Also, a new symbiote with an unhinged and wild host called Cletus Kasady, will join the party.
Viewers from the first movie who stayed for the post-credits scene will remember Woody Harrelson with a devilish smile and a curious looking red wig. The red symbiote’s name, for no surprise to the old-school Spider-man fans, is Carnage.
Screenwriter Dan Casey had this to say about the movie on Twitter: “Venom: Let There Be Carnage is a wild-ass movie of the highest order. Ultraviolent rom com that is delightfully self aware and weird. Tom Hardy gives 200%. Whatever you do, don’t miss the post-credits.”
Matt Neglia of NextBestPicture tweeted the following: “Venom: Let There Be Carnage embraces the absurd buddy romance from the first film even more. Andy Serkis keeps the action & humor moving quickly even if it doesn’t always land. Tom Hardy’s gonzo performance is still a highlight while Woody Harrelson relishes every sadistic moment.”
Molly Freeman from ScreenRant posted saying: “Venom: Let There Be Carnage has some really entertaining and charming moments – particularly between Eddie & Venom which is still a super fun dynamic – but the movie gets a bit lost in the Carnage of it all. There’s too many ideas and the movie just barrels through the mess to the end.”
Venom: Let There Be Carnage hits theaters on Oct. 1.
