Fans of actor Jamie Dornan (50 Shades of Grey) will finally be able to see him hang up his “grey” attire as he appears alongside Cillian Murphy (Inception) in the first image from their upcoming WWII true story Anthropoid. Cashback‘s Sean Ellis co-wrote the script and is also directing, producing, and handling cinematography as the film continues shooting in the Czech Republic.
The title refers to the eponymous mission carried out by Allied forces aimed at finding and killing Reinhard Heydrich, the Third Reich’s number-three officer behind Adolf Hitler and Heinrich Himmler who also headed the SS and was the architect of the Final Solution. Dornan and Murphy play the two Czech soldiers tasked with this mission, as the image above reveals through its covert undertones.
Anthropoid also stars Toby Jones (The Hunger Games), Harry Lloyd (The Theory of Everything), Bill Milner (X-Men: First Class), Charlotte Le Bon (The Hundred-Foot Journey), as well as Dornan’s upcoming Jadotville co-stars Sam Keeley and Alena Mihulov.
Another film titled HHHH, starring Jason Clarke (Terminator Genysis), Jack O’Connell (Unbroken), and Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl), will be tackling the same historical event. Both will be released in 2016, but Anthropoid is currently beating HHHH to the punch as it kicks in to promo.
This project has been in the works with Ellis for 14 years now, and with visual proof of the film nearing completion, the filmmaker can rest easy knowing his vision will be making it to the public.
