First Look at Chucky in ‘Child’s Play’

Today Orion Pictures gave us the first official and full reveal of what Chucky will look like in the upcoming film Child’s Play.

The above is the redesign of the iconic, murderous doll who will be voiced by none other than American actor and voice actor Mark Hamill. The film will be a contemporary remake of the original 1988 slasher film of the same name, with Chucky being the product of a mass producing toy company rather than black magic at the hands of a dying murderer.

Child’s Play will follow Karen Barclay, played by Aubrey Plaza, as she gifts her son Andy, played by Gabriel Bateman, toy Buddi doll. This doll happens to be Chucky himself, but both are unaware of the murderous and evil intent that the toy possesses. It is directed by director Lars Klevberg from a screenplay penned by Tyler Burton Smith. The film has been marketed interestingly through social media, and has its own website mimicking that of the fictional toy company with adverts for Buddi dolls.

Earlier this year, we were given our first look at the film through a teaser trailer that never showed Chucky himself in its entirety. Child’s Play is set to be released on June 21st of this year and distributed by Orion Pictures.

Robert Thornson Jr.: My name is Robert and I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of California Irvine. I am pursuing a B.A. in Film and Media studies with hopes to work in the creative industry. I have always had a passion for storytelling and since youth I've loved film. I grew up loving the movies of directors like Wes Anderson, Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock, Martin Scorsese, David Fincher, and many more along with writers such as Aaron Sorkin and Quentin Tarantino. One thing I have always done is write about movies and communicate to others information about the "film community" and the industry as well as about the films themselves. I write creatively on a daily basis.
