Eddie Murphy (Beverly Hills Cop) shows off his dramatic side with young actress Britt Robertson (The First Time) in this exclusive still from his latest film Cook, originally released by Deadline. The feature, directed by Bruce Beresford of Driving Miss Daisy, has recently begun principal photography in Los Angeles. Based on true events from the life of screenwriter Susan McMartin (TV’s Mom), the story follows the fifteen-year relationship between Mr. Church (Murphy) and a young girl (Robertson) after he is hired as a cook by her ailing mother during the last months of her life in the 1970s. This relationship spans years, rather than the mere six months of the mother’s passing.
Murphy will cross into uncharted territory with this being the first purely dramatic feature for the comedian. He is in good hands, however, as the film is being produced by Cinelou Films, the company behind Jennifer Aniston’s greatly buzzed about dramatic turn in this year’s Cake. With several other projects in development, Murphy’s next confirmed trip to the theaters will be in Beverly Hills Cop 4, out in 2016.
