Jeremy Saulnier turned heads earlier this year with the release of the frightening revenge thriller Blue Ruin. That gave him enough credibility to begin his next project, Green Room, rather quickly. Production is already underway on the film, and Patrick Stewart (X-Men: Days of Future Past) was given the honor of debuting a first look at his character in the film, complete with his Neo Nazi gang.
In the indie crime thriller, written and directed by Saulnier, Stewart plays Darcy Banker, the experienced and manipulative leader of a vicious white supremacist group based in the Pacific Northwest. After stumbling upon a horrendous act of violence, a young punk rock band finds themselves trapped in a secluded venue, fighting for their lives against Banker’s gang. Anton Yelchin (Star Trek Into Darkness) and Imogen Poots (Need for Speed) are among members of the band.
Rounding out the cast is Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development), Joe Cole (A Long Way Down), Callum Turner (Queen and Country), Mark Webber (13 Sins), Kai Lennox (Beginners), Eric Edelstein (Welcome to the Jungle), and Macon Blair (Blue Ruin).
Broad Green Pictures is producing and financing the film, and plans to release the movie in 2015, while Anish Savjani (Drinking Buddies) and Neil Kopp (Night Moves) of Filmscience will produce the film along with BGP’s Victor Moyers (Break Point).
