With the recent announcement of Soul becoming a Disney Plus exclusive with a new release date, many have also expected at least one more trailer to pop up for the upcoming animated film. Well fortunately, Pixar has given into those demands as they just release the final trailer to Soul.
The trailer starts out like normal, showcasing the basic concept of Joe Gardner (Jamie Foxx), a passionate music teacher who dreams of being a jazz musician, getting into a freak accident. Now his soul is being transported to the afterlife until he escapes his path and leads into the Great Before, where he meets another soul named 22 (Tina Fey). Now they are on this new journey for Joe to get back into his own life before it’s too late.
The trailer doesn’t showcase too much new, with the only new other major plot detail being a leader of the afterlife trying to search for Joe’s soul in the real world and showcases a bit more of the great before as well. It still manages to have a lot of that Pixar feel with some impressive animation and some solid jokes including a surprising amount of use of the word “Hell” for one joke. It also seems to still have that heart Pixar offers as it seems the film will focus a lot on Joe’s life and will most likely be where the film will have its core emotion. Given that this is Pete Doctor of Inside Out and Up, it definitely feels like we are gonna get another Pixar classic on our hand. While it is disappointing this won’t be a theatrical release, audiences will be at least glad to experience another Pixar movie before the year is up.
Soul is set to release on Disney Plus on December 25th 2020.
