The final trailer for the final Conjuring film has been released, which follows the Warren family one last time as they are plagued by a familiar demon. Warner Bros. dropped the first official trailer for The Conjuring: Last Rites in May before releasing the final trailer on Thursday, July 31st.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the final feature will follow Ed, played by Patrick Wilson, and Lorraine Warren, played by Vera Farmiga, “as they take on the Smurl case, which involved a family that was tormented by a demon for more than a decade, inspired by a true story.”
This trailer also gives us more information on the familiarity between the Warrens and this demon, with Lorraine saying to Ed, “There’s something in the attic, Ed, there’s an evil here. Something I’ve felt before.” Lorraine also confirms that the supernatural entity that they are dealing with is a demon and the “first ones that [The Warrens] have ever encountered.” She explains more, presumably just to Ed now, “We were young. We were scared. We ran away. And after all these years, it wasn’t done with our family.”
Ed and Lorraine’s daughter, Judy Warren, is played by Mia Tomlinson, and her boyfriend, Tony Spera, is portrayed by Ben Hardy. The rest of the ensemble is made up of John Brotherton, Rebecca Calder, Kíla Lord Cassidy, Steve Coulter, Elliot Cowan, Beau Gadsdon, and Shannon Kook.
Michael Chaves returns to the director’s chair for the project, and James Wan and Peter Safran also return as producers. Ian Goldberg, David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, and Richard Naing wrote the script.
The Conjuring: Last Rites is set to release in theaters on September 5th.
