Final Film Lineup Solidified For Tokyo International Film Festival

The Tokyo International Film Festival has solidified its lineup for its upcoming season. The goal of the festival is to highlight not only films coming out of Japan, but other works from the rest of the world as well.

The opening event for the festival will be the debut of new film 11 Rebels. Directed by Kazuya Shiraishi, the film sees a group of convicts forced to turn into warriors in hopes of defending their fortress from an oncoming invasion, and in hopes of gaining retribution for their wrongdoings.

Other facets of the festival strive to focus on various aspects of cinema. Just a few different categories to highlight certain films are that of the Women Empowerment Section, the Nippon Cinema Now Section, and even a category for past films from the festival.

Hollywood Reporter, who also posted the full lineup, noted that the films screening within competition are to be judged by actor Tony Leung Chiu-wai, directors Johnnie To and Enyedi Ildikó, and actresses Chiara Masteoianni and Ai Hashimoto.

Some of the films throwing themselves in for the main competition includes Adios Amigo, out of Colombia, She Taught Me Serendipity, out of Japan, and In His Own Image, coming out of France, as well as many others.
