Fede Álvarez Praises Upcoming ‘Nosferatu’

The holiday release of Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu is quickly approaching. Ahead of the debut, one director, who already released a horror film this year, quickly took to praising the film as the best horror feature of the year.

Towards the tail-end of the summer movie season, Fede Álvarez released Alien: Romulus, the newest continuation in the long standing sci-fi series. The film was both a critical and financial hit for the franchise, grossing $350 million across its theatrical run.

Nosferatu is Eggers’ remake of the 1922 film of the same name, from director F. W. Mernau. The film itself sees the mysterious Count Orlok pursue his affections of a young woman, as those around her attempt to uncover the horrifying nature of Orlok.

Nosferatu marks Eggers’ fourth directorial feature, but his third to fit into the horror genre. His first feature, The Witch, was a thriller set in colonial New England, followed by 2019’s The Lighthouse,

Álvarez, who has other horror titles to his name such as Don’t Breathe and 2013’s Evil Dead, didn’t mince words when praising Egger’s film, calling it his personal favorite horror film to come out of 2024.

ScreenRant noted that Álvarez only included a picture of the poster in his post on X, but didn’t go into detail about the movie itself. His post will be linked below.

Nosferatu hits theaters December 25th.
