HBO’s original documentary that recounts the career and life of Hollywood icon Faye Dunaway, titled “Faye” is set to make its first television airing on Saturday, July 13th at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT alongside its addition to the HBO Max catalog for streaming. “Faye” is directed and produced by the accomplished Laurent Bouzereau who set out to portray the full story of the struggles and hardships Dunaway faced during her long and illustrious career. Dunaway’s life wasn’t all glitz and glam and her continuous struggle for independence and to be taken seriously as an artist is the forefront focus of the documentary which explores her struggles with her alcoholism and bipolar disorder. After its international premiere at the Cane’s Film Festival “Faye” will set its course to bring the Dunaway story to the home with this simultaneous release.
“Faye” includes an in-depth look into Dunaway’s early life and her rise to stardom including highlights of her most popular appearances including, “Bonnie and Clyde,” “Chinatown,” and “Network”, along with a critical analysis of her most iconic and almost career-ending role in “Mommie Dearest,” the 1981 that lauded Dunaway critical and finical success but nearly kicked the star out of the spotlight. The documentary then dives into the late career of the star and how she still fought to make her own decisions despite the pressures of the studios and her at times crimpling reputation of difficulty.
The documentary features interviews and cameo’s of people from across Dunaway’s life including her son Liam Dunaway O’Neill beside Dunaway’s other close friends, colleagues, and journalists who have been there throughout the struggles and the successes.
