When people think about actors in The Fast and the Furious series most would think of Vin Diesel, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, or the late Paul Walker, but now the most unpredictable addition has been made with Academy Award winning actress Helen Mirren (The Queen) set to join the upcoming entry Fast 8. As confounding as it sounds, it is true that the now 70-year old actress known for playing “classy dames” is joining one of the biggest action series franchise of all time.
Helen Mirren confirmed the news herself with an interview with Elle where she said that she would try out a role in Fast 8, but made a condition where she will “only if I’m allowed to drive if I do drive in it.” So if you’ve ever wanted to see Mirren in a high paced, death defying, car chase than you’re wish shall come true.
The eighth entry in the series will be coming out in April of 2017, featuring veteran actors Diesel, Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, new recruits Charlize Theron and Scott Eastwood as well as their newest inclusion, Dame Helen Mirren.
