Fashion House Mugler Celebrates 50th Anniversary With Documentary

Hunter Schafer BTS for Mugler 'Angel' Campaign

The French luxury brand Mugler has announced Inside The Dream: Mugler to commemorate fifty years, just ahead of this year’s Paris Fashion Week.

The sixty minute doc will highlight the brand’s origin and founder, the “visionary” Manfred Thierry Mugler, who passed away in 2022 after running the fashion powerhouse for nearly half a century. Inside The Dream further explores the transition into the house’s new creative vision under Casey Cadwallader since 2017. The film is directed by Matthieu Menu, whose prior filmmaking experience includes Dior fragrance’s Inside The Dream documentary, released in 2022.

Also shown within the film’s trailer is exclusive footage of multiple Mugler events such as fashion shows, campaigns, and couture fittings. A few Mugler-affiliated celebrity appearances are also teased, showing actresses Hunter Schafer as the face of a fragrance campaign and Zendaya wearing the futuristic ‘Machinenmench’ archive piece she wore to Dune: Part Two‘s premiere earlier this year.

Thierry Mugler, since conceptualizing his image in 1974, has been known as a pioneer in the fashion and fragrance spheres. Creating  a new fragrance family for the popular ‘Angel’ perfume, Mugler is credited for “revolutionizing” the industry, per the Inside The Dream doc. Mugler has dressed notable celebrities past and present including Beyoncé, Dua Lipa, Madonna, Kim Kardashian, and more.

Inside The Dream: Mugler hits streaming in France on Canal+ on September 25th. Deals have been put in place for a larger release, with other services such as Prime Video set to distribute the documentary at a later date. Watch the trailer here

Mugler will debut Cadwallader’s Spring/Summer 2025 Womenswear collection at Paris Fashion week on September 26th.
