It’s time to return to Fantasy Island, as Blumhouse and Sony Pictures are bringing the TV classic Fantasy Island to the big screen. The film will be directed by Jeff Wadlow (Kiss-Ass 2). Wadlow, Chris Roach, and Jillian Jacobs will co-write the script.
The Fantasy Island television series ran on ABC from 1977 to 1984. Ricardo Montalbán played white suite Mr. Roarke, who oversees a mysterious island where people could live out their fantasies — for a price. The show tackled dark themes about nature, witchcraft, and supernatural. The Fantastic Island show actually began with two TV movies before launching an earnest TV series. It ran for seven seasons with a total of 152 episodes.
The projected release date for the Fantasy Island film has not yet been announced.
