Fantasia International Film Festival 2014: Early Lineup Announced

Fantasia is not just the name of a beloved musical Disney film, it’a also a film festival held in Montreal, Quebec honoring genre films and filmmakers. This year’s lineup (which will be expanding) features the North American premieres of several films, including: pornographer turned slightly more mainstream director, Noboru Iguchi’s (Mutant Girls Squad, Karate-Robo Zaborgar) latest horror film, Live; Toshiaki Toyoda’s (Blue Spring) entry in the Crows Zero franchise (started by mega-director, Takashi Miike), Crows Explode; and The Search For Weng Weng, Andrew Leavold’s documentary about a 2’9″ action star from the Philippines.

There will also be a special screening of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest superhero flick, Guardians of the Galaxy. Internet personality/entertainer/critic, James Rolfe aka the Angry Video Game Nerd will be showing off his feature film debut (as director, writer, and star), Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie. Festival staple, Boyhood – Richard Linklater’s twelve year film project/experiment – will also be shown in its Quebec premiere.

The 2014 Fantasia Festival will be held from July, 17th to August, 5th.
