Star Wars fans are in disarray as reports last week detailed a project focusing on Adam Driver’s Ben Solo was shot down over at Disney. One fan in particular, however, has taken a different approach while reacting to the news, hoping to raise awareness for what could’ve been.
Early last week, news broke from Adam Driver directly (while speaking to Associated Press) about a Star Wars film set after The Rise Of Skywalker, specifically focusing on Ben Solo, more commonly known as Kylo Ren. A previous piece from our website details the brief history of the film, starting with Driver’s idea, partnering with director Steven Soderbergh, and the eventual shutting down of the film from the higher-ups at Disney.
The news has become something of a hot button topic among the Star Wars community. Fans haven’t shied away from voicing their opinions on the now-scrapped film, with many wanting the project to get the chance to see the light of day. One fan, B.D. Neagle, to be exact, took it upon himself to take up an entire billboard dedicated to what could have been another chapter in the Skywalker Saga.
Neagle was very straightforward in his reasoning for using the billboard. As a fan of the franchise, he said that he wanted to do what he could to show support for the project, which has since been dubbed The Hunt For Ben Solo, after the working title. While speaking to Collider about it, he referenced Rise Of Skywalker, prompting the question of why can’t Ben Solo be brought back when Emperor Palpatine can.
“For Adam. No one’s ever really gone. Hope lives. Ben is alive! #THBS,” was what the billboard showed.
The Wrap noted that “no one’s ever really gone” was a line that harkens back to The Last Jedi, the middle chapter of Disney’s sequel trilogy. The line was spoken by none other than Luke Skywalker to his sister, and Ben’s mother, Leia. Although she believed Ben was lost to the Dark Side of the Force, Luke told her that no one is ever really gone, before laid down his life for the Resistance while dueling with Kylo Ren.
