According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ewan McGregor (Beauty and the Beast) is in talks to take the title role in Disney’s Christopher Robin. Marc Forster (World War Z) will helm from script by Alex Ross Perry, with later revisions by Tom McCarthy, as well as Oscar-nominated screenwriter Allison Schroeder (Hidden Figures). Brigham Taylor (Jungle Book) is producing.
In the live-action film, the character of Christopher Robin, a child in A.A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh, is now an adult businessman. He has lost his sense of wonder and imagination and now is on the treadmill of work and pursuing material success. McGregor previously starred in Forester’s 2005 thriller Stay opposite Naomi Watts and Ryan Gosling.
McGregor currently plays twins on FX’s hit series Fargo. He voices Lumiere in Disney’s mega box office hit Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson (The Circle) and Dan Stevens (FX’s Legion). He also starred in this year’s T2 Trainspotting. The Scottish-born actor also has two upcoming projects which are currently in pre-production –the romance Zoe opposite Léa Seydoux (Spectre) and the animation feature The Land of Sometimes.
