Actresses Evan Rachel Wood and Ellen Page have joined the cast of Into the Forest, not to be confused with the upcoming musical Into the Woods, based on Jean Hegland’s novel. The story revolves around two sisters (one a ballet dancer, the other a student) named Nell and Eva who are forced into survival mode as the society that surrounds them begins to collapse in the not-too-distant future. Patricia Rozema, who won an Emmy for co-writing the HBO television movie Grey Gardens and directed the 1999 adaptation of Jane Austin’s Mansfield Park, will write and direct the film.Page was recently seen on screen in the eco-terrorism indie The East which opened last summer and the fall indie Touchy Feely opposite Rosemarie DeWitt and Allison Janney. She currently just wrapped her duties returning as Kitty Pryde in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past for director Bryan Singer. Wood will next be seen on screen in the romantic comedies Charlie Countryman opposite Shia LeBeouf and A Case of You opposite Justin Long. Interestingly, both actresses recently appeared in films by Woody Allen – Page in last summers To Rome With Love and Wood in 2009’s Whatever Works.
