Eva Longoria and Eddie Murphy have reunited to co-star in Amazon MGM’s comedy feature Attachment Parenting, an adaptation of a short story by bestselling author Julianna Baggott.
The film is said to be in “early stages of development,” and no director or writer is tied to the project as of yet. Even though little information about the feature has been released, The Hollywood Reporter reports that the feature will center around a “psychologist couple whose parenting philosophy is put to the ultimate test when they’re forced to counsel a crime boss’s dysfunctional family while being held hostage at a hotel.”
While Murphy and Longoria are known for their prolific careers, Baggott also has an extensive one. Along with being a bestselling author, essayist, and poet, Baggott founded her own production company, Mildred’s Moving Picture Show. The novelist has over 20 projects in development, including The Hider, which was bought by Universal for Robert Downey Jr.’s Team Downey, and Backwards, which was sold to Netflix, with Shawn Levy attached to direct.
Murphy and Longoria are also set to produce under their respective banners, Eddie Murphy Productions and Hyphenate. They will produce alongside Davis Entertainment’s John Davis, who recently produced Song Sung Blue. Charisse Hewitt Webster will produce under Eddie Murphy Productions, while Jade Miranda will produce under Hyphenate. This isn’t the first time Longoria and Murphy have collaborated; with the first time being last year for Amazon MGM Studios’ comedy heist film The Pickup, in which the pair played married couple. Amazon MGM is sure to be hoping for the second collaboration to be better received by critics and audiences alike.
The film does not currently have a release date.
