The lovely Isabella Rossellini is set to receive the European Achievement in World Cinema award at this year’s European Film Awards. This event will be held this December in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Often regarded as Europe’s equivalent of the Oscars, the ceremony will attract many prominent figures from the film industry. Attendees can expect to see plenty of familiar faces as prestigious awards are presented throughout the night.
At 72, the Italian-American actress and model truly deserves this lifetime achievement honor. It’s no wonder talent runs in her veins—her mother, Ingrid Bergman, the legendary beauty of Casablanca, was Swedish actress, and her father, Roberto Rossellini, was an acclaimed Italian director. Both parents made significant contributions to cinema.
Rossellini made her acting debut in the 1979 Taviani brothers’ film Il Prato and later captivated audiences worldwide with her breakout role in David Lynch’s 1986 crime-mystery classic, Blue Velvet. It earned an amazing $8.6 million at the box office.
Her remarkable career spans numerous memorable roles in films such as White Nights, Death Becomes Her, and Fearless, showcasing her amazing range and talent.
In announcing the award, the European Film Academy stated that the honor “serves as a reminder of the depth and breadth of talent that continues to shape the landscape of world cinema.”
The cinema world is proud to see such an achievement. Her children, Roberto Rossellini and Elettra Rossellini Wiedemann, must be immensely proud of their mother for reaching this career milestone.
