Cast members of Marvel’s The Eternals were forced to evacuate the Canary Islands due to a faulty bomb found on set. Thankfully none of the cast, including Angelina Jolie and Richard Madden, were harmed. The bomb, it turns out, was an old explosive left during World War II, and experts were brought in to handle the situation soon after. Canary Island, located in Fuerteventura, was an old base for the Nazi’s during the 40’s, so that could explain the bomb’s presence.
The Sun reported a comment by an inside source stating, “It was obviously terrifying — the bomb could have been there for decades untouched but who knows what might have happened if it was disturbed. Some of the biggest stars in the world were on set and nobody was taking any chances. Fortunately, experts dealt with it.” Representatives from Marvel and the cast have not given an official statement on this incident.
The Eternals is set to be released on November 6th, 2020. Marvel’s newest project will join Black Widow as the next entry of Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Stuffed with a star studded cast including Jolie, Madden, Selma Hayek, Gemma Chan and many more, Disney is looking to make big moves with their newest properties.
