Eréndira Ibarra has a bright future ahead of her, as the Sense8 actress has become the latest addition to the long-awaited Warner Bros sequel The Matrix 4, which is expected to enter production this year according to Deadline.
Reuniting with her fellow colleague, Sense8 co-creator Lana Wachowski, Ibarra will be entering the The Matrix franchise for a story that reunites several actors from the original trilogy, including Keanu Reeves as Neo, Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity, and Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe. Outside of Ibarra, the film will also feature several new additions including Toby Onwumere, Jessica Henwick, Neil Patrick Harris, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who has been subject to rumors of portraying a younger Morpheus. Henwick is projected to be the film’s new protagonist alongside Reeves.
Wachowski will be directing the film through a screenplay devised by Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell. Wachowski will also be producing the film alongside Grant Hill, who previously served as the executive producer on the sequel installments The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions.
Ibarra sprung onto the scene in the first two seasons of the Netflix original series Sense8 as the character Daniela Velázquez. The actress also starred in Ingobernable and the Amazon Prime series El Candidato.
