This past weekend saw a clash of 3 big movies in the global box office. Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert movie moved into its second weekend of circulation, joined this time by new Martin Scorsese picture Killers Of The Flower Moon, and Tamil thriller Leo: Bloody Sweet.
Flower Moon opened up to $21 million in the offshore markets, bringing its global total for the weekend to $44 million. 24 of the 63 markets had the film in its number one spot for the weekend, including France, Germany, and Australia, among others.
The overall intake from IMAX screens for Flower Moon was $5.1 million globally, with $1.75 million of that being overseas.
For Leo: Bloody Sweet, the opening was slightly grander than Scorsese’s newest, taking in an estimated $48.5 million dollars globally. However, as Deadline points out, those are estimates from their own sources, and estimates from India are difficult to track.
Bloody Sweet, about a cafe worker becoming a local hero, pulled in an estimated $26 million from India alone, which is the second highest four day total for a Kollywood film. $1.1 million of its gross was from IMAX screens, with an impressive $925K from 42 international scenes, while achieving the biggest local-language opening for an IMAX film in Singapore.
For Taylor Swift, her new concert film was able to climb to $178.7 million globally this weekend. It pulled in $49.3 million globally, and made $16.1 million stateside.
Trolls: Band Together started its international roll out as well, making about $16 million this weekend, putting it about on tier with the first Trolls and The Boss Baby.
