Do you like old-school horror films? Do you miss the campy charm of Battlestar Galactica (1978) and Peter Jackson’s Dead Alive? If so, you might be interested in the new sci-fi horror film, Crossbreed. The futuristic thriller pits Vivica A. Fox and Doug Baldwin against a humanoid alien monster. The film shamelessly radiates Ridley Scott Alien vibes. While Crossbreed may not feature the impeccable mechanics Scott exhibits in his classic horror film, the former does seem to embody an intangible charm that only low budget flicks can successfully access.
Crossbreed is the story of the United States experimenting with crossing alien and human DNA to genetically enhance soldiers. When the tests backfire, the alien/human hybrid goes on a rampage across the ship, using its superior primal traits to begin an insane killing spree. It is up to President Fox and her elite team of soldiers to put the monster they created to rest.
Crossbreed looks to be the perfect film for any fan of the camp horror/sci-fi genre. The film contains brilliant clichés and some notably fun scares and battles. Uncork’d Entertainment is working with DirectTV to give the film a platform. You can watch Crossbreed right now through DirectTV’s On Demand service and Amazon Prime Video. You can watch a preview of the alien rampage in the trailer below.
