On July 14th, SAG-AFTRA initiated a strike against Hollywood. In a recent development, an interim agreement program has been established, allowing independent productions with direct connections to participants of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers to proceed with filming
Following the strike against AMPTP, which ensued due to their failure to reach an agreement on film and TV contracts, the guild has taken measures to compile a list of projects eligible for waivers. According to the guild, these waivers permit their members to work on these specific productions without violating the strike order.
SAG-AFTRA has recently implemented casting-specific waivers, granting its members the ability to participate in or audition for negotiations related to casting in productions. However, these waivers do not fully authorize members to travel, commence rehearsals, or provide their services for the production.
Some of the notable projects that have been included are Angel Studios’ Bible-based series “The Chosen,” the A24 films “Mother Mary” and “I Dream of Unicorns,” and Apple TV+’s “Tehran.” These productions have involved actors such as Anne Hathaway, Dakota Fanning, Glenn Close, and more. Additionally, casting waivers have been extended to movies by renowned directors like Guy Ritchie and Destry Allyn Spielberg.
