The screen adaptation of Emma Forrest’s novel Your Voice in My Head was announced last February, but since then the project has been stuck in development and has gone through a change in directors and production company. The film was originally set to be a reunion for Harry Potter helmer David Yates and Emma Watson, whose role as Harry’s pal, Hermione, shot her in to stardom. Now almost a year later, Your Voice in My Head seems to be back on its feet, picking up director Francesca Gregorini (Tanner Hall) in place of Yates. While Yates and Watson were attached as a pair, Warner Bros. was up for producing the movie, but now that Yates has dropped out, the film will take the indie route with Benaroya Pictures. Watson is still slated to take the lead and it’s possible that Stanley Tucci will be joining her (he was at one point attached, but no word on whether he will be returning to the project).
Forrest adapted the novel herself and the story follows a young woman (Watson) living the seemingly perfect party life in New York, but eventually attempts suicide. She then attends counseling with a psychiatrist (possibly Tucci) who is, himself, dealing with a serious life/death issue: terminal cancer.
Production will begin in New York in November.
