Emma Watson Reunites with ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ Director for ‘While We’re Young’

British actress Emma Watson (Harry Potter franchise) will be teaming up with her The Perks of Being a Wallflower director, Stephen Chbosky, for a second time. The film, entitled While We’re Young, will be an adaptation of Adena Halpern’s novel 29.

The plot centers on a 75 year old grandmother who feels more commonality with her 29 year old granddaughter than her 55 year old daughter. When her wish to be 29 for a day surprisingly comes true, she uses the day to go on an adventure with her granddaughter.

Chbosky is perhaps best known for adapting his own novel to the screen (The Perks of Being a Wallflower); however, he also adapted the script for Jonathan Larson’s stage musical Rent. While clearly no stranger to adapting stories to the feature film medium, Chbosky will direct While We’re Young and leave the screenplay to 500 Days of Summer writers Michael Weber and Scott Neustadter.

Watson continues to build a career for herself outside of the Harry Potter franchise that made her famous. While she most recently starred in Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring, she will also be seen in Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming Biblical epic Noah.
