Emma Roberts and Jack Whitehall to Star in New Comedy ‘Robots’

Actor Emma Roberts and comedian Jack Whitehall haven been set to co-star in new upcoming comedy film Robots. According to Deadline, the film follows the life of a womanizer and a gold digger who are forced to work together to capture their robot clones. In the world of the short story on which the film is based, robotic clones can be bought on the black market to scam people into false relationships, but the scam can go awry if two robots fall in love with each other and go rogue. In the short story, this is exactly the case, and the two main characters must chase down their robots to avoid being found out by the government.

Anthony Hines, who is best known for his work with Sacha Baron Cohen, will direct the film. Hines previously directed Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan and Bruno and Da Ali G Show.

Stephen Hamel, a lead developer on the project, stated, “This project combines two of the genres I enjoy the most – sci-fi and comedy. It’s outrageously hysterical while providing unexpectedly sweet affirmations of our need for love and connection with each other. If two robots can fall in love, why can’t we!? Ant Hines is a powerhouse of talent, and together with the dream team of Emma Roberts and Jack Whitehall, I couldn’t be more enthused.”

The banner Rocket Science is beginning international sales currently as Cannes virtual market.
