EDGLRD, the design collective founded by filmmaker Harmony Korine, has selected Eric Kohn as its next Head of Film Strategy and Development starting August 30. Kohn was previously at IndieWire for about 16 years as Editorial Strategy VP and Executive Editor.
“For almost 20 years, I have tracked the most exciting cinematic achievements worldwide as well as the future of creativity as a sustainable practice,” says Kohn. “EDGLRD sits at the confluence of art and technology that is essential to obtaining that goal. I’m thrilled to join Harmony and the EDGLRD team as we chart a path to bringing more singular work into the company.”
Kohn will be responsible for new film developments from emerging talent and will work alongside Korine to bring new media techniques to the company.
“I’m really excited to be working with Eric Kohn. He has great insight and adventurous tastes. I can’t wait to see the projects he develops at EDGLRD. We are very happy to have him here with us,” said Korine.
At IndieWire, Kohn was responsible for initiatives such as educational projects and in-depth profiles; he has covered film festivals around the globe. Kohn also teaches film criticism at NYU and co-founded the Critics Academy, which hosts educational workshops for entertainment journalists.
