Paramount Pictures has just released the latest trailer for the dystopian action film The Running Man. Starring Glen Powell, The Running Man is set in a near-future society which holds a deadly competition program that follows participants, known as “Runners”, as they are hunted down by assassins for a 30-day period, all in hopes of winning prize money if they are able to survive until the end. Powell plays Ben Richards, who enlists in the competition, determined to secure the prize money to afford a doctor to treat his sick child.
“For the next thirty days, everyone in the country is trying to murder me. That’s crazy, right?” Powell’s character speaks in the beginning of the trailer before he is seen jumping through windows, off bridges, dodging attacks from vicious killers, and of course running-a lot of running. The budding action star was most recently seen in films like Twisters and Top Gun: Maverick.
Also set to appear the film are stars Josh Brolin, Colman Domingo, Michael Cera, Katy O’Brien, William H. Macy, Lee Pace, and Jayme Lawson. The film is an adaptation of the 1982 novel by Stephen King, who penned the story underneath the pseudonym Richard Bachman. The screenplay for the upcoming film was written by Michael Bacall along with Wright. Wright is best known for his fast paced action thrillers such as Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Baby Driver. The Running Man hits theatres on November 14th. Watch the trailer here:
