Eddie Murphy Is Craving To Play Donkey Again

Eddie Murphy was recently awarded the Cecil B. DeMille award in this year’s Golden Globes ceremony. The honorary award recognizes outstanding contributions to cinema. The actor is well known as a part of many pop culture hits such as Coming to America, Dr. Dolittle, and The Nutty Professor. However, one of his most beloved characters is an animated one: Shrek’s Donkey. The actor was recently asked about the possibility of a Shrek 5 in an interview.

Murphy is all in for returning the character and discussing his hopes for a spin-off.

“I’d absolutely be open if they ever came with another Shrek, I’d do it in two seconds. I love Donkey…You know, they did Puss in Boots movies. I was like, ‘They should have done a Donkey movie. Donkey is funnier than Puss in Boots. I mean, I love Puss in Boots, but he ain’t funny as the Donkey…I would do another Shrek in two seconds.”

Murphy might be right, at least with the idea of a new Shrek installment. Puss in Boots voice actor Antonio Banderas also recently referred to a possible Shrek 5 during a festival. He said: “I’ve done five movies now. There is probably gonna be another, and Shrek is probably coming back,”

In the interview, Murphy also sent a message to Dreamworks: ”Dreamworks, if you all want to do it, just call me. I’m ready, I’m sitting and ready to do Donkey.”
