Not content to rest on his laurels after saving the country from monster earthquakes, Dwayne Johnson has signed on to to save the country from actual monsters in the film version of the classic Midway arcade game Rampage, according to Deadline.
A lizard, a gorilla, and a wolf…walk into a bar? Not so much.
Dwayne Johnson, most recently seen on the big screen in the blockbuster San Andreas, will re-team with that film’s producer, Beau Flynn, and New Line on the video game-based project. The script, by Ryan Engle (Non-Stop), is being kept largely under wraps but is expected to stay fairly faithful to the 80s arcade staple, with three giant monsters wreaking havoc all over North America, with Johnson in his familiar role as one of the folks needed to save the day. No director has been attached to the project as of yet.
If all goes according to plan, the film will start production in summer 2016, after Johnson wraps on Fast and Furious 8, the latest in the long-running franchise.
