Dreamworks’ ‘Trolls Band Together’ Gets Thanksgiving Release

The third entry of the Trolls franchise, Trolls Band Together, has been set to be released on November 17, 2023. The film will follow Queen Poppy (Anna Kendrick) and Branch (Justin Timberlake) as they work together to save the famous troll boy band, BroZone.

Released on March 28th, the trailer shows Poppy and Branch set to attend Gristle (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and Bridget’s (Zooey Deschanel) wedding before they are interrupted by John Dory (Eric André), ex-member of BroZone and Branch’s self-proclaimed, long-lost older brother. A series of flashbacks reveal that Branch used to be a part of BroZone, a family act including him and his brothers before the band broke up and abandoned Branch. Dory, with Poppy’s eager encouragement, convinces his brother to help him look for the rest of their brothers on a cross-country road trip.

Universal Pictures will release the film to theatres after it previously opted for a PVOD release for the second film, Trolls World Tour, during the 2020 COVID pandemic. This return to its regular business model was based on many theater owners criticizing the studio’s decision to move immediately to streaming releases. According to them, a film’s success in the home entertainment industry can only be marked by its success during its initial theatrical run. During this outcry, exhibitors begged Universal to avoid repeating this move for the next film.

Returning director Walt Dohrn leads the latest Trolls entry alongside producer Gina Shay and co-director Tim Heitz. Alongside Kendrick, André, and Timberlake, the film will also star, Kid Cudi, Daveed Diggs, and Troye Sivan as Branch’s brothers and former bandmates. Additionally, RuPaul Charles, Amy Schumer, Andrew Rannells, and Kenan Thompson will feature in its ensemble cast.
