Dreamworks dropped an announcement during the commercials for the Super Bowl that a new trailer will be coming Wednesday. While the Super Bowl is one of the most-watched television events in history it is also a time when large movie studios like to premiere new trailers or teasers for new or upcoming projects. While Dreamworks has released no new footage as that is planned to be unveiled in the second trailer the attention on the project is still notable considering that the film’s rival the live-action Lio And Stitch remake which will make its debut the month before. With How To Train Your Dragon slated for a June 13th premiere Disney will be starting earlier with Lilo And Stitch dropping on May 23rd.
While Disney and Dreamworks rivalry is well known the decision to go with an ad spot over a new trailer is either a sign that Dreamworks plans to ramp up its promotion later or that it does not plan to push the film as the mass family appeal. With things left uncertain and half a week until there are answers we can only speculate how Dreamwork’s first live-action adaptation will go.
