Dreamworks Animation Will Premiere ‘The Wild Robot’ Footage At Annecy Festival

Dreamworks Animation will be premiering new exclusive footage for their upcoming feature The Wild Robot. It will be screened at the Annecy International Film Festival on June 11th.

The presentation will be led by the writer-director Chris Sanders (How To Train Your Dragon, The Croods), followed by an Artists’ Panel with the film’s creative leads. The following day, the studio will help lead a book signing at the Bonlieu library.

The Wild Robot follows an abandoned robot named Roz (Lupita Nyong’o) who reactivates in the middle of an uninhabited island. While struggling to survive and comprehend its situation, it soon discovers friendship amongst the animals, played by an all-star cast including Mark Hamill, Pedro Pascal, and Catherine O’Hara.

Dreamworks has presented this as one of their latest masterpieces to celebrate their 30th anniversary. President Margie Cohn notes that the film fulfills the company’s mission to provide stories that speak to multiple generations of audiences while reaching “new levels of artistic excellence.” “Chris and producer Jeff Hermann have lovingly translated Peter Brown’s renowned literary sensation into a genuine work of art,“ Cohn continues to gush.

Originally slated for September 20th, The Wild Robot will now make its trek on September 27th to avoid competition with the upcoming Transformers: One.
