Dr. Seuss’ ‘Oh, The Places You’ll Go!’ Gets 2028 Release From Director Jon M. Chu And Warner Bros.

Dr. Seuss’s final book, Oh, the Places You’ll Go!, is getting a feature adaptation from Wicked and Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu and Warner Bros. Pictures Animation. The studio announced Monday that the animated musical movie is set for theatrical release in IMAX on March 17, 2028. The film from Chu and Jill Culton centers on a young adventurer navigating life’s ups and downs. Rob Lieber wrote the screenplay and EGOT winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are working on original songs for the project.

The film is based on Dr. Suess’ last published book of the same name, released in 1990. The children’s book author died the following year at 87. John M. Chu’s Wicked is coming off of box office success and 10 Oscar nominations. The second film is set to hit theaters in November of this year.

Warner Bros. Pictures Animation previously announced animated features based on Seuss’ books The Cat in the Hat, the titular character voiced by Bill Hader, and Thing One and Thing Two set to be released in 2026. Oh, the Places You’ll Go! comes from Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Bad Robot. J.J. Abrams and Gregg Taylor are counted as producers. A voice cast has not been announced yet.
