Dr. Seuss is an iconic children’s writer. He comes up with such fun and unique stories that capture his audience. His colorful characters and creative plotlines also lend themselves well to movie adaptations.
Lately, three different Seuss movies have been topping the streaming charts. Two of these movies are both based on the same book, while the third is not.
In 1957 Dr Seuss released his book How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It has since spawned many adaptations. The two notable ones being a 2000s live action starring Jim Carrey and a 2018 Illumination film starring Benedict Cumberbatch. These are two of the three films topping streaming charts right now.
While the two Grinch movies make sense as to their current popularity with the current season, the last Seuss adaptation topping charts is a bit of an outlier. The movie in question is Illumination’s 2012 The Lorax starring Danny DeVito.
It is suspected that The Lorax has creeped onto this list due to the suspect in the shooting of UnitedHealthcare’s CEO. This is due to the suspect claiming The Lorax as his favorite story on multiple platforms.
All three of these movies simultaneously landed in the top 10 on thew streaming service Peacock on the week of December 20th. In first and second place were the 2018 and 2000 Grinch films respectively. Meanwhile, The Lorax was sitting happily in spot number 10.
